چکیده
Background: Esophageal cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers with an overall 5-year survivalrate estimated to be less than 18%. Squamous cell carcinoma esophagus is predominanthistology in cervical and upper middle thirds thoracic esophagus, whereasadenocarcinoma predominates distal esophagus. Lymph node involvement number oflymph metastases are important prognostic factorsMaterials Methods: 30 patients mid lower esophageal treated between2008 2014 were studied retrospectively. Histopathological profiles analysed mainly terms ofpattern lymph involvement. Results: 26 cases squamous 3 adenocarcinoma while 1 case waspathological complete response after neoadjuvant treatment. 22/30 moderately differentiated.24/30 had where T3N1 was commonest stage as 50% achieved thisstage. Mediastinal group nodes involved 23 abdominal nodeswere only not any case. Amongmediastinal paraesophageal, paratracheal followedby subcarinal recurrent laryngeal nodes. Conclusion: still variety prevailing this region. Majorityof present advanced involvement. nodesare majority hence precise clearance utmost importance toprevent local recurrence prolonged survival.
